[SOLVED] Wallpaper - Fit To Screen

I installed Mageia 3. When I install a new background/wallpaper I do not see any buttons or options to make the picture fit the screen, e.g., shrink to fit, stretch, tile, etc. I believe we had the option in version 2. I could be missing something obvious. I've searched the forum and with Google without finding any help.

Appreciate the assistance anyone offers.

I should have mentioned I'm using the Gnome desktop.

I addressed my issue by using GIMP to change the scale of pictures (converted 1024x640 into 1400x1050 pictures) and exporting the files with png extensions. When selected as wallpaper I can view the entire picture. May not be the best solution, but it works until I change screen resolution or I hear of a system's solution.

Found it. The background setter in "System Settings" on Gnome 3.6 lacks the options you seek by default. However, if you run dconf-editor and navigate org>gnome>desktop>background you'll see a field called "picture options" - click on the word "zoom" and you can select other options such as wallpaper, centered, stretched, and spanned.

Thank for for this advice/solution.

dconf-editor is not available in a "normal" install so I did need to go to Control Center Software Management to add it. I did find where I can change the wallpaper setting.

I, and I believe most users, would have never found this. You obviously know your Gnome!

If one only uses 2-3 wallpapers, the solution I identified using GIMP may be as easy.
