[DONE] Laptop display won't wake up

[Edit - A disconnect from AC and battery pull reset this. Scared me though.]

Whether this is a Mageia topic or general computer topic, I'm not sure. I hope someone can tell me.

I tried the Live DVD in my laptop while trying out a real install in my desktop. I wondered if a Live session would stay active if I closed the laptop, putting it to sleep. This worked fine the first time and I thought it seemed a pretty handy way to check things in Mageia 3/Gnome 3 while trying Mate in the desktop install. So without actually shutting down I closed the laptop again last night and expected to have the same open session when opening it this morning. At the least I figured I may have to wait for a fresh bootup. The drives spun up but I got no display. The 2 possibilities I can think of are that either the screen failed for no related reason or the OS put the system to sleep but then lost the ability to wake it back up because it was booted from the Live DVD (?) Any idea of what to try would be greatly appreciated. Laptop is a HP g7-1173dx. I've tried starting it with or without a disk in the drive. Resident OS in the lappy is Win7.
