Mythtv-setup cannot see V4L1 cards (ivtv or most any analog cards)
This is KERNEL related, Arch Linux just re-added the V4L1 kernel support when it was apparently dropped in mainline at 2.6.38
Also the related kernel firmware is MIA, but the ivtv modules is still in the kernel and works fine.
Given that 90+% of folks are using these analog tuners (still) as well as many v4l1 webcams etc it would probably be handy for distros to add it back in.
I'd file a bug report, but when I tried reporting it to the cooker list 2 weeks ago it's sat there unaccepted and I've been getting 100+ emails a day.
(OK, 6000 one day when someone ran a script and clearied out dead bugs)
Installed Mageia1 today (posting from the box) and it worked perfectly, the only quick fix I can propose is the same as for Mandrivas installer...
Have the "blank boxes" that pop up when running updates or migrating an existing users permissions say SOMETHING, otherwise it looks like the install has hung.
(quick fix with ~zero coding--- change vt so the currently running background command is visible, then cvt back wneh complete
You might want to have a prominent note about adding the nonfree and "tainted" sources (and what they are) assuming you haven't done so already.
Hmmm.. Nonfree was added by default, good.
Great job!
Running Linux since 1994, on Mandriva since v6, switching to Mageia once I can use this as my main install.
(requires: Mythtv with working ivtv tuners)
