[Done] Flash plugin installation problems on x86_64

Once more, with Mga 3, I've the usual note on video material "Cannot play media. You do not have the correct version of the flash player. ". Can anyone tell me a foolproof way of getting around this seeming perrenial problem. Mine is an 86-64 machine From the Control Centre, I've added "Flash Player Plugin", to no avail.

Mageia has the latest version that is available for linux. You may find the MAQeia helpful.

Well, you're missing most of the information that would be needed.
Which browser are you using, does it show the flash plugin as installed, and which video are you trying to look at (some example link).

I'm using the flavour of Firefox that came with the distributio, which is 17.0.6, and the video is the BBC news Comes up with the video key in the BBC news intro page) Now I've already done this twice over.
First, on finding that flash did not work, I installed "flash-player-plugin - Flash Player plugin for browsers"​ and "flash-player-plugin-kde - Flash Player KDE settings module​". from Software Management in the Mageia Control Centre. Flash still did not work. I then accepted the suggestion in Firefox, to install Flash Player from Adobe. In installing this, it was indicated that the two earlier installs would have to be removed. Accepted this, and the Adobe version was installed. Flash still did not work. Software Management now indicates that "flash-plugin - Adobe Flash Player 11.2​" is installed..
I built the two desktop machins six or seven years ago, and find that every year, on update time (and sometimes in-between) I go through the same frustrating process of getting flash to work on 64 bit machines. I'm seriously considering abandoning 64 bit and running the machines as 32 bit. Which seems a waste. But it will give me flash and also the Medusa CAD package, which I posted about (wrongly, apologies) in networking.
There's nothing relating to a flash plugin in Tools/Add-ons/plugins, by the way. If there's any way of adding, it's not obvious to me.. It's certainly not in the list of plugins available in Get add-ons/ Browse all add-ons

Well, this is bogus. I'm using x86_64 and never had a problem with Flash. Also many others don't.
And if flash is not listed in Firefox plugins then it's not installed correctly. Also please don't mistake a plugin for an addon, those are two different things.
You may want to check https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/fi ... to-firefox to better distinguish those from each other.

Please do the following as root and post the output here (leave the browser closed in the process please):

Sorry about the delay in replying. However, the whole thing has become academic. I've ousted the 64 bit version of Mageia, and installed the 32 bit version, and that works. It also allows me to install the Medusa Personal CAD package (this being, seemingly a 32 bit package, although it ran on Mageia 2 64 bit version). It's possible that the problems were as a result of taking the default setting, on install, of the window which indicated that there was a propiatory driver which might give enhanced graphics. I've had problems with using the propietory drivers in the past. In fact the first re-build of the 32 bit version refused to show application windows on the screen. A re-build choosing the Mageia alternative works fine.

Well, a broken graphics driver installation may also lead to Flash plugin crashes. But you're mangling together too much problems into one, which are not directly related.
I guess the problem is nonexistant now, so please mark the thread accordingly by editing the topic of the first post and prefix it by [DONE], thanks
