Hi all, Only started using Mageia yesterday and liked it so much I installed it.

I am completely new to Linux so i have lots of questions. I have used Ubuntu for a couple of weeks but my knowledge is still minus zero.

Im a silver surfer, with lots of grandkids so the old gray matter does not work as fast as it used to, but Linux has given me a new & exciting aspect to life.

Anyway. Where/how do I access the terminal/console . I have tried to download some updates and an icon keeps asking me to install them. I tick ok in the text box that appears but nothing appears to happen.

Am I correct in thinking that over the next few weeks I will need to configure and install various apts to get a good working system. All the basics that i need are here.
Basically I just want to learn learn learn especially the command line/ code/ scripts and the nuts & bolts in general.

Hi Sorry I meant got answers for everything I wanted except the graphics/jumping screen problem so all help with this much appreciated.

corrected the graphic card form intel to correct nvidia Ge Force 8200 G. also added further info. Please see my post graphics problems. thanks
