[SOLVED] Skype on 64 bits

Postby pmithrandir » May 27th, '13, 08:17

Hello,

I activated all 64 repos, but when I try to install get-skype package, I get that :
get-skype-4.1.0.20-2.mga3.nonfree.noarch (car libpulseaudio0 est non satisfait)

In english : libpulseaudio0 was not found

Where is this package ?
Is it a 64 package or a 32 one ?
I'm trying to go on a 64 bits only test these days... seeing how it works.

Thank you
Pierre

ok.
It's strange. If skype is 32bitrs, why is it in the 64 repos ? I should not have it in my list I think...

Does that mean I have to enable all 32 bits repositories also ?

Thanks,
PIerre

get-skype itself is a 'noarch' package and is therefore in the 64bit repos along with 64bit packages.
It has dependencies which are 32bit. To allow for installing 32 bit applications on a 64bit machine there are the repos 'Core 32bit Release', and 'Core 32bit Updates'. These repos are enabled by default when you add a full set of media sources in Mageia Control Centre on a 64bit machine.

The 32 bit repos will only be used to satisfy dependencies for 32 bit applications you install like Skype.

ok, thank you.

I read a little about it online after your answer, and it seems that few software need this 32 bits repo. I just hope that they will not conflict with my 64bits library too much.

I will enable the repo today, hoping also that with the dependancies, I will not have to install almost all library in double :)

Thank you,

As long as they come from Mageia's repos they won't.

Only needed libraries are installed.
