I've never done an upgrade before this one. My GRUB menu still has Mageia 2 kernels listed and the only Mga2 packages I have installed are Kernel and fglrx.
Is it safe to remove these? I assume they will no longer boot, is that right?
Also, what is the best way to remove them from the GRUB menu?

Yes they will still boot, though you would probably have to set up video again if you booted from them.
To get rid of any exces kernels just remove the old kernel packages with the MageiaControlCentre Software GUI
Setting the drop down menu in the top left to 'Instllled Packages' will help you identify them.
Removing the package will also remove the Grub menu entry

Thanks. I've always done clean installs because of a hard drive upgrade or in some cases upgrading was not recommended so this just happens to be my first upgrade.
