Gsmartcontrol bug in Mageia3

Postby nigelc » May 23rd, '13, 02:46

Hello,
I have downloaded Mageia3. I had some trouble with the update option, the system hung at one point.
After doing a fresh install it was ok. Gsmartcontrol crashes when starting. How do I file a bug report?

Did you do a online install/upgrade? Details on how you installed it will help fix it.

If you upgraded with an installation DVD you need to run urpmi --auto-update in a terminal as root to finish the upgrade process.

Mine works fine, so, if you could tell us how you got Mageia 3 that would help.

All you say is you downloaded it. Was it a live DVD? Install DVD? Network install?

It was an install DVD and as I said I downloaded it from the internet.
I am about to give up with this distro.

Did you do:

Code: Select all
urpmi --auto-update

in a terminal as root to finish the upgrade process.

Are you on x86_64 or on i586. I'm using x86_64 and it's working for me. But the reporter seems to use i586 (https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=10241).

I'm using x64, but if you look there is no information given other than the error and "I download it from the internet".

It may be a bug but with so little information being given I quit asking.

Hi,
The iso image was downloaded via bit torrent and the md5 sum was verified.
The iso image was Mageia-3-i586-DVD.iso

I have one i586 system left. I'll try on that one when I get back home.
