I apologize if this is a basic questions, but it is something I haven't done in a while. The graphics card I have installed is made by Nvidia. The drivers are installed properly, but I was wondering if there was a way of checking my framerate. It used to be with glxgears, but it looks like that isn't an option anymore. Is there a different program that replaced glxgears or is there something completely different?

Well, glxgears is not a benchmark, it won't even show correctly if you have acceleration enabled or not.
Best launch a small game like supertux.
