[SOLVED] Update to mageia 3 (dracut & nvidia driver)

Postby davers » May 21st, '13, 19:44

Everything was fine until I rebooted after update from mageia 2 to 3. Got this (the "netprofile" thing was iptables at one point - I was trying different grub entries). Can anyone help? Do I have to do a fresh install? Linux updates have never been a pleasant experience for me.

plymouthd: /home/iurt/rpmbuild/BUILD/plymouth-0.8.6.1/src/libply-spalsh-core/ply-boot-splash.c:632:ply_boot_splash_update_status: Assertion 'splash->plugin_interface->update_status != ((void *)0)' failed.
Starting netprofile: The default is the current profile. [OK]

I ran dracut -f, which helped, but now the boot hangs:

" [ OK ] Reached target Graphical Interface. "
_

Then nothing.

I get this error.

[FAILED] Failed to start Wait for Plymouth Boot Screen to Quit.
See 'systemctl status plymouth-quit-wait.service' for details.

Update: I managed to mess up the kernel boot (using dracut) so I'm just going to do a fresh install...

OK I decided not to do a clean install since I didn't want to have to reconfigure everything. I managed to fix the /boot folder with 'dracut' from ubuntu, which got me back to this point. I uninstalled the nvidia driver using 'uprme', then re-installed it. Now everything works. Good luck everyone, hopefully this isn't an issue for too many!
