Missing mysql stuff

Postby broadstairs » Jun 8th, '11, 13:43

When I was running Mandriva I was able to install mysql-administrator and mysql-query-browser rpms from the repositories but they do not exist on Mageia. This is a much better way to administer local databases than the php web interface. Why are they missing?

Probably because the packagers were busy with other things. You can file a bug report so that we bear in mind it would be nice to package those.

I think mysql query browser is not supported by mysql for 2 years at least.
The new software is mysql workbench.
(it does almost the same than query browser, + diagramm creation and synchronisation, reverse engenering, and some others stuff for administrators)

I'm having the same problem with Workbench crashing. I've only been playing around with it for a couple of days so have not got any answers yet. I also moved my entire database from another PC so I have been getting that working.
I will have a look at what I can find on their forum(s). You are not alone Stuart.

I think I have sorted this crashing. The problem seems to be GTK. I have changed some selections in Settings > Application Appearance > GTK Styles and Fonts.
GTK Styles I have selected Use another style: oxygen-gtk
GTK Fonts I have selected Use my KDE fonts in GTK Applications

After the above changes the WorkBench ceased crashing.
It might be worth a try. If it works we can raise it as a bug.

Incidentally, just for future reference, which theme was causing the crashes?

@ ahmad
It was laOra theme I was using at that time. Since changing themes and looks the same settings with regards to KDE fonts seem to apply.
However I have found Mysql Workbench is quite unstable in general now. I've sort of got used to swearing and restarting the application and forgot about making a report about it. I will try and remember.
