[SOLVED] new to kde and I need some help.

Hi, I've been using ubuntu since it started, but hating the new gnome more and more so I have switched to kde. I have three issues that I need help with.

1) I couldn't find any user management so I installed kuser. Is there a better package that kuser?

2) I miss natilus and don't care for dolphin. Any recommendations?

3) Is there a way to have num lock turned on be default?

hi,

1 - Installed by default, you have the KDE settings (an icon with a screwdriver and a wrench near the Mageia menu or menu/tools/system tools/settings)

3 - in the KDE settings, Hardware (last frame) / Input devices / Keyboard

1. The Mageia control center ("configure your computer") has a user management tool. In fact just about anything you want to set up can be handled in mcc, it's the main thing that sets Mageia apart from all other distros.

2. You can install nautilus and use it, but it will pull in a bunch of gnome packages as dependencies. Nevertheless, I'd install pcmanfm, which is like nautilus but has a few extra features. I hate nautilus, but use pcmanfm (which looks the same) all the time.

3. There's also a 'services' tool in mcc where this and a bazillion other services can be started, stopped, enabled and disabled. But for numlock it's just as good using the kde tool.

Have fun! Mageia is my go-to distribution these days, and I use almost a dozen different distributions all the time.

Thanks, pcmanfm is nice. I think I'll even like it more than nautilus.
