network install

Postby txbahai » Feb 12th, '13, 19:47

I am trying out the network install for 3.x ... It's been sitting around for awhile at the installation portion....is there a keyboard shortcut or a way to get to a terminal to see what is actually downloading and at what speeds maybe?

Kindest Regards,

You can switch via Ctrl+Alt+F2 - F4 to the other terminals, one should show the packages being installed. But depending on the downloader used, you probably will not see the download speeds ...

During the install there is a button on the screen for "Details" it will show you the progress of the packages installed, and a progress bar gives you a time estimate.

However, be aware that I raised this bug today
https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=9046

For me network install of Mageia3 is broken. But do not let that stop you trying it out. It would be useful to know if others experience the same problem I did.

I am getting a different problem all together...but the term is scrolling to fast to capture what it says....

somthing like

install.sh does not contain 'root (hd...)' line, no way to magically adapt device.map

Yes I did not mention it on the bug report, but I saw the same thing when I did an FTP install from Cauldron. Feel free to add your experience to the bug report.

Happened to me too today. Might it only be related to chosing other DEs?

txbahai was asking about Xfce on another part of this forum and I was running the boot iso for the same reason. Happens after you've selected all the options and once installation proper begins. The progress bar disappears and you're left with a blank grey panel.

Will register to bugzilla later and see if I need to formally contribute to the bug reporting over this. I see you closed the open bug report on this issue.

No need to, you're using your credentials from https://identity.mageia.org/ for all mageia sites ;)
