No sound in Thunderbird 3.1.10

I have just installed the Mageia 1 and used my existing /home from my Mandriva 2010.2 install. I now find that I have no sound played from Thunderbird. All sounds play just fine in all other applications that I have tested. This copy of Thunderbird is the same one which was running on my previous Mandriva install, that is it installed in my home directory and not from a package. When it was used on Mandriva 2010.2 sounds played just fine but now using Mageia noting plays from Thunderbird. Everything else in Thunderbird works perfectly.
Anyone any ideas about this, seems to be a Mageia problem since the install worked OK on Mandriva.

Edit: I just tried safe-mode and still no sound, it wont play the default sound either. This is running 32bit BTW.

Try the Mageia rpm of thunderbird please. Then, try to open sound files with the file manager, a player may be missing.

OK well just as I expected the official Thunderbird package exhibits the same fault and Amarok plays the wav files I'm using with no problem at all as does movie player. As I said all other sound including Firefox works just fine only Thunderbird fails.
I also tried it with a new profile but that fails to play sound as well.

Interesting, except that for me it will not play any sound even a system sound and I see no errors in the Thunderbird error console. **Correction I do see the errrors now in the console just as described in the bug - dont know why they were not there initially when I looked but I can now find them!
Anyway lets see what happens to the bug.
