Suspend to RAM Damages GRUB on ASUS Eee PC 1215B

I have tested it twice and got the same result. The GRUB always damaged after the action "suspend to RAM". I couldn't get into GRUB. The only thing appear was "_" blinking. I have to reinstall GRUB from Live CD to fix this.

I'm using KDE. The "suspend to RAM" action was done from KDE. I'm using the latest kernel-netbook which is version 3.4.

The platform is ASUS Eee PC 1215B. AMD APU E350 Radeon HD 6310.

can you boot cd into recovery mode and have a look at the state of menu.lst

i saw a similar issue recently where it was zeroed out.

I haven't tested it yet but I don't think it was zeroed out. Because it was restored to its last 'workable' state by just running the following command:

Code: Select all
grub-install /dev/sda --root-directory=/media/mageia

/media/mageia is the root of my Mageia OS.

The menu.lst definitely wasn't zeroed out. The GRUB just disappeared.

Let me explain the process. First, I closed my netbook lid or suspend to RAM via KDE. And then I rebooted the system and got "_" blinking on the left corner of my screen.

What should I do?

Mandriva 2011.0 have this issue too on on my netbook. I'll try to see whether this problem occurs on non-Mandriva based distro.

Edit: and no! fedora, mint too.
