I'm trying to find out if there is a probram in Magia2 that will change the background (wallpaper) at timed intervals. I have my computer hooked up to my plasma tv and need the wallpaper to change often enough to keep it from burning onto the screen. Any help will be appreciated Very much.
Thanks, Dan

Hi Dan,
You don't say what desktop environment you're using, but I'm using KDE so this is how you do it in KDE. Right-click the desktop and choose "Desktop settings" (in my case) or "Folder view settings"(which is the default, I think).

You'll see a window similar to this one where you can change the wallpaper between Colour, Image or Slideshow. Set up your image directories in there using the "custom folders" part.
James.

Nope, not really - it's not really obvious where to find this, if you're not a long-time KDE user ...
It's sad this cannot be accessed from systemsettings, which is the central tool for most of KDE's settings/configuration.
So you definitely have a point there ...
Desktop Background

I was surprised to see no way to change the background and I looked first at other postings here and discovered that we right click on the desktop and then select "Folder View Settings." Fine, as far as it goes, but I have a pictures folder full of photos that I like to switch between as my desktop background. Cats that I've served, scenery from places I have lived, people I have known, etc. There appears to be no way to get these as my desktop background, and there should be. Can anyone help? I don't mind hacking a little to get it. This is important to me.

Which desktop are you using?
KDE, Gnome, LXDE, XFCE, or other? They all have different methods for selecting the wallpaper.

OK I looked through the previous thread before posting and it contains no way of getting to my Pictures directory.
*** It's OK I found it!!! **** Yay!
yes I'm using KDE and I right click to get the Folder View Settings; then I click on the "Open" button near the bottom, and that does it. I can choose whatever I want. In fact it comes up with my pictures folder selected. Lovely.
Nevertheless, it could be more intuitive. Ubuntu has something like "Change Desktop Background" as a right click menu option for the desktop, and you go right to it. I think that would be a good standard. very intuitive and easy to find.
Thanks for the help. I'd have never found it on my own.
