No SSH by default?

Postby claire » Jun 5th, '11, 13:49

Is this just an anomaly with my installation or an oversight?

ssh 192.168.1.100
bash: ssh: command not found

urpmi ssh
To satisfy dependencies, the following packages are going to be installed:
Package Version Release Arch
(medium "Core Release")
libedit0 3.0 0.20090923.3> i586
openssh-clients 5.8p1 2.mga1 i586
1MB of additional disk space will be used.
363KB of packages will be retrieved.
Proceed with the installation of the 2 packages? (Y/n) y

I installed fresh from i586 DVD after a failed upgrade from mdv2010.2 and it doesn't seem SSH is included in a default installation. It just seems odd.

I suppose it must be an anomaly then. At least its installable but its weird that it wasn't installed by default.

Thanks swazi

You need to be root to use urpmi. You can do it like this:
Code: Select all
su -
enter root password
urpmi ssh
Cauldron is not for the faint of heart!
Caution: Hot, bubbling magic inside. May explode or cook your kittens!
