Using Firefox is OK with normal CPU usage, but after closing it disappears while still running in the background at 100% CPU.
I have to manually kill it with htop to be able to use it again.
No add-ons installed.

Are you using gtk-qt-engine by any chance.
This has been known to cause problems with Firefox.

got the same problem, so I removed FF. I don't think it's a problem related to gtk-qt-engine as I realize the same problem on my wifes pc running XP.

Roadrunner you are perfectly right, thanks. After removing gtk-qt-engine Firefox behaves normally.
However, this it still a problem because I need gtk-qt-engine to be installed again.
Without it GTK apps are not following KDE color/schemes properly.
Thanks for the help.

Yes, Oxygen runs just fine, but I'm not a big fan of it.
I always use Qt-curve which is the most versatile theme ever. Also a beautiful one.
I never used anything else since 2009 when I discovered it.
