KDE corner tricks not working

Hi. I am trying to use the KDE features in Mageia2 where each corner of the desktop has a different option (hot corners?) like showing the desktop grid, desktop cube etc. I am using a proprietary driver for my ATI 6870 graphics card and from the mageia graphical manager I have turned on 3d effects. Yet, when I select the options in the settings page, they do not respond. That is, I can select them in the settings and hit apply, but they have no effect. Is there something else i'm missing?

I have used this feature successfully in open suse and kubuntu, so i'm perplexed why it is not working for me in Mageia2.

Thanks,

Brian

thanks for the reply wintpe. I will check on that soon. I will also make sure opengl is set, not xrender. by the way, this is on a fresh install, from a fresh download, which is why it was most perplexing.
