Mageia 2 not access photographic camera USB

Postby macxi » Oct 29th, '12, 18:42

Hi,
I'm trying to access the photos from a camera, but the camera does not recognize in the Mageia 2.

I can access the photos through Mageia 1, that recognizes immediately after I connect the camera in the computer USB.

Note: the Digikam software is installed in Mageia 1 and Mageia 2

Any suggestions? Any package is missing?

Warning from Mageia 2

Hi,

I verified that the Mageia 2 recognizes the "canon usb camera" as a regular user, but does not access the photos. As root, Mageia 2 recognizes the camera and access the photos.

Code: Select all
[common user-mageia-2-kde@localhost ~]$ lsusb
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
Bus 003 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
Bus 004 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
Bus 005 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
Bus 002 Device 007: ID 04a9:3084 Canon, Inc. EOS 300D / EOS Digital Rebel
[common user-mageia-2-kde2@localhost ~]$

I tested here in Mageia 2 and KDE as a regular user, using software Digikam, I could add the Canon camera (usb) manually, but was unable to access the photos, it appears the warning: Failed to connect the camera.

Then I accessed the software Digikam as root, I added the "canon camera" and it was possible to manually download the images normally.

Therefore I think that there is a problem of permission to access some cameras as common user in Mageia 2.

Note-01: In Mageia Control Center, the "canon camera" is classified as a scanner and not the usb port

Note-01: [SOLVED] Problem accessing Canon Digital Camera with PTP

Despite this information, I could not solve the ploblema. I still can not access the photos from the camera as normal user
