Recordmydesktop is slow

Hi,
I tried to record my desktop with recordmydesktop, but for some reason it is not able to record with fps more than 4-5. If I set it to higher fps, sound is getting far ahead of the image and it seems it is dropping frames and the videostream is torn and ugly. CPU load is low - not more that 5-7%, encoding is set after capture. I looked online, some people have reported the same behavior, but there is no workaround for that. So i guess it is a program bug... Has anyone had any experience with recording a desktop? Any suggestions which program to use? Unfortunately, I do not find anything apart from recordmydesktop (no Instanbul, xvidcap, etc) in Mageia1 repos... so maybe I'll try to make a xvidcap package for Mageia1.
Mageia1 KDE x86_64
Thank you.

I also took a look at the spec file for Mageia1 (I guess it is the same in Mageia2) - one patch used there (recordmydesktop-fix-xorg-headers-1.patch) is corrupted, but what I can see is exactly the same as patch recordmydesktop-fix-xorg-headers-2.patch. I am not sure if this matters, but could someone confirm this slow behavior of recordmydesktop in Mageia1 or 2?
