[SOLVED] Bug? in screen keyboard from gnome-control-center

Hello !
I'm using Mageia 2 from a couple of months with, I must to say, a great pleasure !
Yesterday, I was looking at features I don't currently use just to see and know. I then clicked on the small guy located in the upper right corner of my screen showing all features helping people wanting a better view of the screen thanks to a magnifier, screen keyboard and so on ! I clicked on the button enabling the screen keyboard : and then BIG PROBLEM ! black screen with a message saying that a problem occured and the system cannot recover by itself and recommanding to launch again, this was done but nothing worked !!!
The worst was when I tryed to inspect the same menu on the login screen, at this moment, the same event came again and now I cannot use anymore my laptop computer ! I, then thought, it this was a particular bug only affecting laptop computer and, sadly, I made the same operation on a desktop also using the Mageia 2 ! Same result !
Now my 2 computers are locked on this black screen with the same message ! I tried to a access by the console and remove "orca" and/or the "gnome-control-center" nothing has changed !
I don't know what to do else that making a complete reinstall that would be the "final solution" but destroying all the data located on the "home".
Some help would be greatly appreciated ! Thanks a lot in advance !

can you try to start in safe mode,
when logged in as root create a new user with a new password and,
after a reboot, try to login with the new user

these are the commands you should type:

Code: Select all
useradd newuser
passwd newuser

Hello Tom,
I logged in as a new user, this works. But now, is there any way to access the main account or recover the data ?

Hello again,

Logged in, I'll use the root password in order to make a cd to the maint account and then make a cp to the new account right ? I just have to remind how to protect the rigths during the copy !
I think this way is the right one !

you have to guess where gnome keeps its settings...

try to rename/move these folders from your home:

.gnome .gnome2 .gconf .gconfd .metacity

I mean:

Code: Select all
mv /home/youruser/.gnome ~/.gnome.old

etc...

Ok Tom !
I've duly noted. I'll have to do like that for my 2nd computer. It's always interesting to learn more about our preferred system !
On the first one, I created a new account as advised, then I logged in the new account, then in a console as root I made a cd /home/failing_account followed by a cp -dR --preserve=all * /home/new_account
When the cp has finished I deleted the old account and the user name as well and then I created again the account which name was the same as the previous one I deleted just before and made a new cp as previously but in the reverse way.
Everything works well now, however, the original reason of these inconveniences was the fact I unfortunately clicked on the Visual keyboard function located on the upper right corner - the little guy (gnome) and I'm afraid that someone could, by accident, repeat the problem occured on 2 of my computers yet I tested with the live cd and evething works well without any problem.
It seems therefore, it is well a bug ! What do you think about this ?
Anyway, I thank you very much for having shown the right direction to solve my problem !!!
