(RESOLVED) xfce4-notifyd install problem

Postby stabbmesiter » Oct 4th, '12, 20:18

I've a problem that I can't seem to resolve (not that I know too much).

I'm would like to install xfce4-notifyd (x86_64 under Mageia 2) but on selecting the rpm under MCC I get the following.
Just the same thing under urpmi command line.

Code: Select all
The following packages have to be removed for others to be upgraded:
gnome-panel-3.4.1-1.mga2.x86_64
 (due to missing gnome-session,
  due to missing gnome-shell)
gnome-session-3.4.1-1.mga2.x86_64
 (due to unsatisfied notification-daemon >= 0.7.1-1)
gnome-shell-3.4.1-1.mga2.x86_64
 (due to missing gnome-session)
gnome-tweak-tool-3.3.4-1.mga2.noarch
 (due to missing gnome-shell)
lxde-common-0.5.5-9.1.mga2.x86_64
 (due to missing notification-daemon,
  due to unsatisfied mageia-lxde-config >= 0.5)
mageia-lxde-config-Default-0.6.2-1.mga2.noarch
 (due to unsatisfied lxde-common >= 0.5)
notification-daemon-0.7.4-1.mga2.x86_64
 (due to conflicts with xfce4-notifyd)
notification-daemon-engine-nodoka-0.1.0-3.mga1.x86_64
 (due to missing notification-daemon)
task-gnome-minimal-3.4.1-4.mga2.noarch
 (due to unsatisfied gnome-panel >= 3.1.0)
task-lxde-2-7.mga2.noarch
 (due to missing lxde-common)

I've checked and I seem to have all the supposedly missing components installed. Is it as indicated in the middle of the list a conflict with

Code: Select all
notification-daemon-0.7.4-1.mga2.x86_64
 (due to conflicts with xfce4-notifyd)

or something else

I've removed the rpm database and rebuilt it...same problem.

Code: Select all
rm -f /var/lib/rpm/__db*
rpm -vv --rebuilddb

This isn't a biggy but I do prefer xfce but don't want to trash gnome (seems harsh) for the sake of one rpm.

Thanks in advance.

PS When is xfce going to 4.10 under Mageia?

No answers so best to close.
If you're interested I ditched gnome. If I want to use gnome I boot into Fedora (xfce is better presented as well...more applets etc).

Regards...
