[SOLVED] things I need help removing from my system

Postby Voodoo » Sep 10th, '12, 08:58

Hello I need help removing these two applications, I have been unable to find them in my control centre, lately I have become pissed at KDE (not their fault my computer is just slow and its KDE and its a resource hog)

So i've returned to Xfce and its okay, if I could I would reinstall the system but I cant afford any blank dvds and my original isn't loading anymore

so yeah im cleaning up my install and its bit of a mess and the first thing is i need to figure out what those two icons are that have blocked symbols over them

and by mess I just mean I have alot of stuff I dont even think I need

If anybody knows what these two packages are then it would be greatly appreciated

You can find which application they are with,
Code: Select all
ps aux
in a terminal then
Code: Select all
kill -9  pid_number
to kill the app you think it is. If the icon vanishes after the kill then you have found what it is.

Then to find the package that application belongs to use
Code: Select all

FWIW, KDE is no ressource hog when configured properly.
