I did a clean install of Mageia 2
set up media sources [added non free & tainted]
installed calligra core
but I don't have any of the apps?

Try installing the calligra-2.4.1 (note: I am using Mageia 2 KDE), because:

the setting up of the repositories[media sources] is not as clear as it could be, since there is no way to copy n paste, it's not easy to post the settings
I have enabled distrib 1,3, 11, 13, 21, 23[core, non-free & tainted]
backtracking a bit
I installed from a cd to a HPdc5000, 2ghz, 1gram, 160gpata hdd, single core intel celeron cpu
enabled the media sources, updated fully
installed chrome, chromium, clementine & calligra core [the apps are missing]

I thought you were looking caligra applications, that are installed with the package calligra-2.4.1: .

- karbon-2.4.1-1.mga2.i586
- kchart-2.4.1-1.mga2.i586
- kexi-2.4.1-1.mga2.i586
- kformula-2.4.1-1.mga2.i586
- krita-2.4.1-1.mga2.i586

The package calligra-core-2.4.1 does not install these applications.

What app you're looking for?

About media source, If you set the medias sources 1,3, 11, 13, 21, 23, (see here and here) then everything is ok

Do you have any doubt about the configuration of repositories (media)?

This is already the second thread with the same topic and same content: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=3166
If you only install calligra-core, you will only get the most basic set of calligra packages, if you install calligra, as you were already told, you get all of calligra.

this is the 2nd thread, my 64 bit notebook gave up, so there was no way to continue trying to find a solution, would you have preferred that I removed the solved marking on the 1st thread?
you & the bug squad shouted me down until I went away on the bug I reported

I want the word processor & spreadsheet apps, which don't appear on the list of programs on mcc>software management>gui
when I switch to all
there are 2 entries with identical descriptions
Calligra
&
Calligra-core
I uninstalled Calligra core
reinstalled the package from the all list named just Calligra
the full suite installs [& works]
clearly there is something not quite right with the packages

I did notice that my 2 mageia1 installs, calligra installed fine
even after upgrading one of them to Mageia2
3 other installs that started as clean Mageia installs have the calligra weirdness

In both cases you installed calligra-core, which only installs the basic set of calligra applications, yet you want the full suite, which gets installed when you install calligra package. You say that yourself, don't you see where the problem is coming from? And the bug squad didn't "shout you down" they just told you you made a mistake and calligra itself is working just fine.

If you only want the word processor and the spreadsheet app, then just install them, they are called words and calligra-sheets.

Remember, a bug needs to be reproducible. And if you just install the wrong package, you can't complain that you installed the wrong one.

when it come to calligra M2 is buggy, no doubt about it
calligra suite is not available on a new M2 install, something called Calligra core is

both calligra core & calligra [suite] have identical descriptions
would any one expect to have to switch to all packages to get a app with a GUI?

It sure is confusing:

calligra is an "empty" package, it doesn't provide a GUI, it doesn't even provide any files at all, it only suggests to install:

calligra-words
calligra-sheets
karbon
calligra-stage
flow
krita
plan
kchart
kformula
kexi
braindump
stateshape
webshape

calligra-core is the package that contains the GUI. Each of the suggests above requires calligra-core (so pulls in calligra-core)

If you click on calligra in MCC and compare what you see in the panel below with what you see when you click on calligra-core, you'll see a big difference.

apparently whoever was in charge of the getting the packages ready missed a bit
isn't that the definition of a bug?
