most websites are not available

Hello everyone

I'm brand new to Mageia 2 as of today. Whatever web browser I use, most websites are unavailable. Went to Most Asked Questions, and did not see anything there that I could understand as

being relevant to this problem. In fact, anything such as "code: select all urpmi flash-player-plugin" is beyond me. It isn't command line stuff as I am used to. Yes, my technical skills are minimal, but

I very much would like to learn. Have installed and used many types of Ubuntu , Mint , Deepin etc. but that's about it as far as skill level.

Would very much like some help in getting started with Mageia 2.

Thanks

Hello,

A fine way to begin with Mageia is to read the Wiki :
https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Main_Page
You have a page for beginners - click on "Newcommers start here" and you will find a page about software management:
https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Software_management

Have fun with Mageia

Could you please provide some more details on that?

And just say what you want to learn ;)

Doktor5000 :

My computer is a Dell 660 desktop , 8Gb memory , 3Ghz , 1 Tb harddrive . It is a dual-boot with Windows 7 home premium and Ubuntu 12.04.

Currently I'm using a Live CD for Mageia 2. Would like to triple-boot, don't see a problem there, but that is not for right now.

In Mageia 2, whether I use the default web browser or Firefox , I can only access Google.com or Mageia . If I try any other website, this is the message I get :

Oops! It was not possible to show this website

The website at http://dell.com/ seems to be unavailable. The precise error was:

Cannot resolve hostname (dell.com)

It could be temporarily switched off or moved to a new address. Don't forget to check that your internet connection is working correctly.

( I use Dell as an example)

Will be grateful for any help. Thanks

Forgot to add that the PC is 64 bit ; and the first thing I would like to learn is how to fix this problem ! After that, many other things to learn.

Hi,
I'm new here and my English is not so good...so forgive me!
I know that it's a stupid question but what is the output of ifconfig ? and the content of /etc/resolv.conf? you can see it using this command cat /etc/resolv.conf

Let me know
