Problems with Mageia 2 Gnome on Toshiba Tecra

Help!
I've just done a fresh install of Mageia 2. I've been using Mageia 1 without trouble. The first time it booted I got a message saying my graphics card can't handle Gnome 3 but then it continued to boot and then crash about 30secs after the boot appears to finish. Now every time I boot the same thing happens; it crashes after abot20secs of what looks like normal use.
If you are going to lead me into safe mode, please tell me in some detail what to do. I'm very much a newbie.

Thanks

Umm, I'm guessing lack of response implies nobody knows. Guess I'll try the KDE version 2 and if I get the same I'll go back to my Version 1.
Incidentally when it crashes. ctrl-alt-bspace, or Sysreq-r/i/e etc have no effect. So not much I can do other than keep my finger on the off button for 5 secs

Cheers

When does the crash occur:
1) Before it reaches the login screen?
2) After reaching the login screen but before you log in?
3) After you have logged in?

It crashes after I log in, when everything is loaded up and the hard disk has stopped flashing. Then about 30 seconds later. It doesn't connect to wireless though. I don't get time to go through it's first time login.
