I'm new here. Im downloading Mageia 2 and i have few questions. Is installing easy over Ubuntu (you know, click button and it installs automatically over Ubuntu and does partitions etc..) And then, how programs are installed in Mageia? I mean what commands and is there a graphical interface for it so is it easy etc..
And should my hardware be compatible?
CPU: AMD A6-3600 2.4 GHz
GPU: AMD Radeon HD 6670
4 GB RAM

Kittens182,

Welcome to the Mageia Forum ! :)

Tips to install Mageia DVD you can see here: 1. DrakX, the Mageia Installer
Or to install Mageia LiveCD KDE. There are other texts in the documentation wiki page.

The installation of Mageia has some steps, in one of these steps you can choose automatic partitioning. If your HD is empty, you can select "disk free" (see screenshot of Mageia 2 DVD here, and screenshot of Mageia 2 LiveCD here)
If you have other partitions, you can choose "Use existing partitions" (see here). But be careful, make backup copies of your important files before you start to install.

The steps of installation of Mageia you can see here (in this draft that is still being edited in the wiki) or by clicking on the image below to enlarge:

About the compatibility of your hardware with Mageia 2, one way to check is you run Mageia LiveCD without installing on your machine and do tests to see if everything works (see here - in this draft that is still being edited in the wiki).

To install software, you can use the Software Management in the Mageia Central Control (see tips here and screenshot here), which lets you install and remove their software graphically. To install software from the command line, see here.
