Try the folowing from the terminal as root:
Code: Select all
urpmi --auto-update

I had the same problems when trying to update using the GUI tool.

The update made LibreOffice completely unusable. To solve it, using the control centre, I had to delete and re-install. Fortunately that worked.

I just checked Writer, it works fine for me. Did you update with URPMI?

I just got the same exact same problem when I accepted to install the updates about an hour ago! After finding this thread I checked on LibreOffice in the menus - it is completely gone! I did
Code: Select all
urpmi --auto-update
and got this:
Code: Select all
To satisfy dependencies, the following packages are going to be installed:
  Package                        Version      Release       Arch
(medium "Core Release (distrib1)")
  libtwolame0                    0.3.13       1.mga2        i586
(medium "Tainted Release (distrib21)")
  cdrdao                         1.2.3        6.mga2.taint> i586
  gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly     0.10.19      2.mga2.taint> i586
  libdvdcss2                     1.2.12       1.mga2.taint> i586
  libfreetype6                   2.4.9        1.mga2.taint> i586
  libpano13-tools                2.9.18       5.mga2.taint> i586
  librtmp0                       2.4          0.git2011122> i586
  mencoder                       1.0          1.rc4.0.r345> i586
  mplayer                        1.0          1.rc4.0.r345> i586

nothing about LibreOffice!
So I went to MCC and checked repositories - none of the LibreOffice packages were selected, so this update had effectively un-installed LibreOffice from my system! I had to re-select all of the relevant LO packages and re-install. Which was successful.
How/why did this happen? :?

I updated normally then with URPMI before having to re-install.

As expected a couple of hours the issue is resolved. When I saw the messages this morning I just cancelled the update.
Now, after my noon nap the issue has gone and I could update without any problems (no "You have to uninstall foo.bar first").

I am still having this problem with the GUI tool.

using the cli command seems to work, though.

Maybe your mirror does not sync often enough. The mirror I am using syncs on a 2 hour schedule, so an issue of the morning is often gone in the afternoon. If your mirror syncs but once a day you would have to wait until tomorrow.

As the update with GUI went smooth this afternoon I assume that some package was misplaced and not available in the /update branch. The update GUI only looks into the active /update branches while urpmi looks in all active branches.

My update blew up too. Fortunately I've several
M2 installs and did a reinstall of the packages.
Back ok now but I think some things are missing.
Writer and Calc are ok for me.

I also did a warm boot and all's fine there.

I rsync'd up with mirrors.kernel.org before doing the update
and it still blew up.

I count 23 LibreOffice packages in my preupdate systems
and now 23 LibreOffice packages in my post update systems.
Updateing LibreOffice is now without errors.

From an independent forum:-

The new version of libreoffice added a requires on the package lucene-contrib.

So the package had to be copied from the Core Release repository, to the
Core Updates, so that mgaapplet can find it.

If you used urpmi --auto-select, the installation would have pulled in the
dependency from Core Release. Using the applet, which does the same
as "urpmi --auto-select --update", the dependencies can only be installed
from repositories marked as update repositories.

The lucene-contrib package is also required by the eclipse-platform package,
which is currently also going through qa, so all of the qa members already had
it installed, and missed the fact that a requires had been added. Wasn't
mentioned in the advisory.

We do have a procedure for detecting this type of problem, but it is only
partly automated, and we forgot to check it for this update. Sorry about that.

Should be fixed now.

When https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2317 gets fixed, this type
of problem should not be possible.

Regards, Dave Hodgins

Ah, so exactly as I assumed in my post earlier in this thread :)

I also had received the warning from uninstalling, then waited a few hours and all updated without a problem and didn't have to uninstall anything :D

Yep when you such packaging/mgaupdate issue, you forums contrib feel free to ask QA/sysadmin/bugsquad on the bug of the update.
You can found it easyly on the wiki, in the updates-announce mailing list, or with a search in the bugzilla (add a package at the end of the url)
Thanks
