Mageia on a "zenbook"?

Postby ludotw » Jul 10th, '12, 15:39

Hello,

A search on "zenbook" or the specific model UX32VD points to my own posts mentioning these names :) Has anyone installed Mageia on such a machine?
It has been done on Ubuntu, on Fedora, on mandriva for the UX31...

From looking at a review of an UX32VD I see it has Nvidia Optimus hybrid Graphics and will need to be configured

We have a page in the MAQeia section of this forum explaining how to set up the hybrid graphics

If you have trouble understanding or following the procedure then shout out on the forum and someone will help

You may also find this page useful

You probably do not have to do all the configuration mentioned on this page. Only refer to it if the Mageia installer does not manage to set it up itself.

@djennings: I am currently beginning the installation and face a beginner issue: disk partitioning. I don't know what I can move, resize and delete. I will ask the question in a new thread rather than here.

@wintpe: are they so long to be released in the UK? Any regulations from your government delaying the importation of the zenbook or is Asus slow? I've got mine here in Taiwan.

Hi ludotw !

I'm also interested in a Zenbook Prime and I'm wondering if it works fine with a Mageia (I'd rather not have to use an Ubuntu).

Could you tell us if you managed to install the Mageia and tell us if everything works fine?

Ludotw

No to import restrictions, i think asus in in cahoot with suppliers that have too much sandy bridge stock as all the where to buys on the asus website point at big powerfull retailers and the sandy bridge models.

Even amazon uk.

Yet amazon us are selling the ivybridge model.

That was as of a week ago.

I dont think we will see widespread ivybridge untill they have passed off the sandy bridge stock on unsuspecting buyers

However if they wait to long, i will be pushed to a samsung ivybride, which i would prefer, if they ever do another release of their 900.

Regards peter, that my opinion.
