[SOLVED] Mageia2 can't connect with filezilla

Postby waynevid » Jun 21st, '12, 19:52

I've been using Mageia1 and Filezilla to FTPs my website for about 6 months now. Recently I upgraded to Mageia2. Ever since then, I've been unable to connect with Filezilla. I encounter error 425 "Unable to build data connection: Operation not permitted Error: Failed to retrieve directory listing." I've tried turning off the firewall but this has no effect. I've also tried using active mode without success. I have 3 computers, two of which I've upgraded to Mageia2. These two cannot connect with Filezilla. The third one is still on Mageia1 and is able to connect successfully with Filezilla. My question is what has changed between Mageia1 and Mageia2 that would have this effect on Filezilla? I've installed both upgraded computers the same way using the default settings.

I would try re-installing filezilla, and possibly make sure you have openssl and openssh installed to establish secure connections. I use Filezilla on Mageia 2 daily and it works perfectly for me connecting to both local and external sites.

I do have both openssl and openssh installed. I've re-installed filezilla 3 times already. The problem persists.

Can you ping the server you are trying to connect to? Does anything on this site here help? - http://wiki.filezilla-project.org/Network_Configuration

I've tried filezilla's network configuration wizard without success. In fact, on my 2 computers( one with Mageia1 and and the other with Mageia2 installed), the results of the network configuration wizard show an identical error "Response: 510 Mismatch. Wrong external IP address Connection closed". Yet, the computer with Mageia1 is able to connect with filezilla and the one with Mageia2 is not able to. Both share the same internet connection with the same router.

Problem Solved. Mageia2 uses filezilla-3.5.3 but Mageia1 uses filezilla-3.5.0. When I went back to 3.5.0, everything worked. So the problem was with filezilla and not Mageia2. Thanks for all the input.
