Hi,

I have a workstation that although will run in 64bit (x86-64) I want to install in 32 bit (i586) mode so I can try a 32bit application from elsewhere.

From the cd's opening screen I can set Boot Options, however just changing:

initrd=alt0/64/all.rz automatic=method:cdrom vga=788 splash quiet

to:

initrd=alt0/32/all.rz automatic=method:cdrom vga=788 splash quiet

or doing the same with any of the other alternates just ends up with the same lines telling me that:

I can't recover from this
You may reboot your system

Any ideas folks?

thanks
scsijon

When booting the CD, quickly hold down the [Shift] key on the keyboard so instead of going to the graphical boot menu you get to the "boot:" prompt. Once in there just type "32" (without the double quotes) and hit enter. Then hit enter again. Then it will go back to the graphical boot menu and it should be in 32-bit mode.

Should be reported as enhancement request for cauldron, as this seems easily implementable. https://wiki.mageia.org/en/How_to_report_a_bug_properly
