Couldn't download updates

Postby dekay » Jun 4th, '12, 14:32

I have been trying Mageia2 LiveCD for several days, and I have not been able to download any updates. Using the MCC 'software updating', it always said that there were no updates available. (No problems with Mageia1 or Mandrake/Mandriva in the past, so I had set it up correctly).

Then, this morning, I read the excellent Mageia2 review in Distrowatch. They had the same problem, but got over it by using Apper. So, I tried Apper and it downloaded and installed 17 updates.

This posting is just in case the information is of any use to anyone.

I think that Mageia2 is great and will be installing it in the next few days.

Cheers.

Maybe I'm wrong but I was always under the assumption that you can not update when running the live CD. Only on installed systems.

You can update/install packages just like an installed system but it's all written to ram so doesn't survive a reboot.
