Thunderbird is already running but is not responding

Postby varun_saa » Jun 2nd, '12, 11:02

Hello ,

I have this problem :

"Thunderbird is already running but is not responding. to open a new window,
you must first close the existing process, or restar your system."

I have deleted the .parentlock file , but the problem persists.
There is no lock file.
Profile.ini file looks good.

Reboot did not help.

Never had this problem . Very frustrating .

Any clue ?

Thanks in advance

In Mageia 2, I see the process is called thunderbird-bin (I'm not sure it had the same name in Mageia 1)

Did you try (in a konsole or terminal):
$ killall thunderbird-bin

and then start thunderbird again?

Following up on this do a ps -el as root and see if their is any apparent thunderbird related processes going on.

And if marja's suggestion doesn't work, could you please show your Thunderbird-profiles.ini?
In directory home/your name/.mozilla-thunderbird there is a file named "profiles.ini"

Please show the output of
Code: Select all
ps -ef |grep -v grep | grep thunderbird

Also, the general steps for such problems are described here: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_in_use

@varun_saa: Well that alone is totally irrelevant. What about the informations i've asked for earlier, and the link i posted? Did you go through the instructions?
