I have recently upgraded to Mg2 ,and where I was able to create a desktop Icon for my software ,It appears that the right -click option does not allow this . So ,what can I do to enable an Icon to be created.

Which desktop are you using?

I am using the Gnome 2 version ,which is the latest update; but, I have worked out the answer ny accessing the Control Centre ,and ticking a few boxes ,and voila my icons returned.
