[SOLVED] Unable to install new packages

Hello

I just installed Mageia 2 on my netbook and I am trying to install more packages. However, urpmi gives me the following error:
Code: Select all
mount: you must specify the filesystem type
failed to mount /org/freedesktop/UDisks/devices/sr0: org.freedesktop.UDisks.Error.Failed: Error mounting: mount exited with exit code 1: helper failed with:
mount: you must specify the filesystem type

Please insert the medium named "core media"

I have the external DVD drive which I used to install Mageia inserted into one of the USB ports.

It sounds like there are problems mounting said DVD drive, but I wouldn't know why.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This has been a perennial problem in Mandriva and Mageia. The installation medium is not always recognized as a media source. The easiest solution is to remove or disable the installation medium as a source and add the online repositories (which will give you access to a much wider range of software than is available on the DVD).

You can do this through Mageia Control Centre/Software Management/Configure media sources.

If you are not familiar with Mageia, you may find this rough guide useful:
