no installation of boot.iso

Postby Trio3b » May 18th, '11, 06:02

Long time MDV user. curious about Mageia. Could not find md5 sum on site (where is it?). used boot.iso 32 which I assume is LiveCD version. burned it three times all at different speeds (on optiarc DVD drive- maybe could try burning on another drive).

BIOS set to boot from optical drive. two desktops and one laptop Mageia cannot find CD-rom device then display list of dozens of drivers to access media.

Error is disk does not seem to be mageia disk. Tried all combinations of install as per instructions.
Burned via K3b. Not likely all optical drives bad and not likely all 3 burns are bad.( I have burned hundreds of CD.isos)

Any help
thanks

boot.iso is not a live CD. It's purpose is to launch an installation by downloading the installer from a mirror, local directory or DVD iso file.

The dual-arch CD can be used to install a minimal system. Live CD iso's should be available in a few days.

The md5sum should be on the page that is displayed when you select the download link. md5sums are also available on the mirrors, for example:

ftp://distrib-coffee.ipsl.jussieu.fr/pu ... /cauldron/

and for the boot.iso:

ftp://distrib-coffee.ipsl.jussieu.fr/pu ... ll/images/

Ahh. That explains it. Since LiveCDs were discussed I just thought they were ready and boot.iso sounded like the nearest thing to Live so went for it.

Looking forward to Mageia.

Thanks
