Gil, my best guess is to report this issue as a bug at:
https://bugs.mageia.org/enter_bug.cgi?p ... mat=guided

I've been unable to replicate this problem; the update installed correctly. That doesn't mean that there is no bug, but there must be something different between our setups. I'm running the (fully updated) beta version of Mageia One (with the KDE desktop, of course) which was installed from a liveCD on a long-suffering Compaq C700 laptop. The package "libkutils4" clearly has not been installed by default in my case. No doubt a more knowledgeable contributor can tell us what that package is for, since the information provided by the software management package is minimal at best.

Glad to hear that you're basically up and running. The only relevant point that I noted was your reference to "compiling and updating" the package. I simply downloaded and installed it from the standard repositories, which exercise was completed without incident. I wonder whether your somewhat more ambitious approach could explain the appearance of an orphan instance of the package in "Lost and Found".
