What Mageia version did you install, on which machine/mainboard and how did you add Mageia to your grub2 configuration? Also what did you specifiy during Mageia installation, for where the bootloader should be installed?
Depending on your existing entry for Mageia, maybe you can just try to add "set root=(hd0,1)" to it when editing grub2 command line? (without the quotes...)
FWIW, you could have also posted the full error message, grub2 error 7 means invalid signature, mostly when trying to chainload another boot manager.

mageia 1 x86_64 on a asrock z68 pro gen 3 (fatality) with a core i5 2500K, i've 5 HDDs, sda had windows on it, sdb 1 is / directory, sdb2 is swap, sdb7 is /home!
during install grub didn't asked me where it should be install, so i waited until the screen showed all the config for the system and in boot section i set it up to install in sda so it can be found while booting on the windows drive. But what happens after is it that grub can't find anything so it show failed boot error #7 or something like that.
