Mouse Cyborg R.A.T. 7 not working

I have connected a new mouse to my computer, but it isn't working as expected.
It moves around, right-click works most of time, but left-click nearly never works.
Sometimes but not very often. The mouse isn't broken. It's new and it works
as it should with Windows.

The mouse is a Saitek Cyborg R.A.T. 7. Before I used a Sharkoon Fireglider
which worked very well.

How can I get the mouse working? What should I do?
Or is a bugfix of Mageia 1 necessarely?

The Cyborg RAT 7 has a high refresh rate and a high resolution.

back to the problem: for example it even happened that if I opened a browser
(somehow) and if I clicked somewhere on a webpage that nothing happened
on that webpage - instead of this a file from my desktop has been opened
which is located exactly where I clicked but on the desktop and not in the
browser. It seemed that I directly clicked through the webbrowser.
btw: I use Compiz.

But most of the time nothing happens. (Or in very rare cases it multi-clicks.)

Does it also happen if you disable compiz, and when you try with a freshly created user (or xguest user, for that matter) ?

# disabling of Compiz didn't help
# creating of a new user didn't work too

but as new user I tried a little bit more around and so here are some additional infos:

# on the desktop it's possible to select squares by clicking on one point
# the same click on the closing cross of a window makes nothing
# it's not possible to move windows with the mouse
# double-click (for opening stuff) works
# it's still possible to (double-)click through a window (to the stuff beneath)
# if I plug in the old and the new mouse together the old mouse shows the same
behavior that single-clicks are not working
