re: tools>system tools>system settings missing

I installed Mageia 1 64 bit and cannot find the system settings module , I looked up the application on another computer with mageia and got the launch command and tried that
and got an error program not installed

Can someone tell me what program got left out during my install?

Which system settings tool do you mean? Is it KDE or Gnome's tool?
Which kind of installation did you do, from which media (DVD or LiveCD? If LiveCD, which one?) or was it a net-installation?

kde4, installed from DVD I have several other mageia installs that all have the system settings and an icon in the task tray one missed it some how

systemsettings comes with the package kdebase4-workspace, which is a required package for all KDE installations, as it's already required by task-kde4-minimal.
If you know the filename which you're missing (in this case the systemsettings command) you can search for which package this is contained in the currently enabled repositories via urpmf like so:

The information on where to find the systemsettings program is what I was looking for , My daughters Mageia is working as the programmers intended it to
maybe even better
