Don't you think this is better handled in an Apple support forum? What does it have to do with Mageia, if i may ask?

To use an ipod touch on Mageia you must install gtkpod. This is done from Mageia control center add/remove software:

My experience in the past with Linux/ipod is not good at all, as I have abandoned use of most proprietary gadgets. If gtkpod not should work, you may have to jailbreak the ipod:

I was at work the other day, and we have a machine that just went belly up (windows OS that is) and I had a spare hdd where I had installed Mandriva 2010.2 32bit liveCD gnome. I have an ipod touch 4th gen, and I take it with me to use at work. (handiest tool ever) Well my battery was getting low so I plugged in my USB cable to charge it, and mandriva seen that I plugged in an ipod and wanted to import pictures. I thought this was strange because Mageia 1 won't reconize my ipod touch for what it really is. It detects it as a webcam. Fstop can access the pictures on my ipod no problem and wants to import them right away... is there something missing from Mageia 1 that I need to install (gtkpod is already installed and doesnt see the ipod at all). Hopefully we can get Mageia 1 to access this as mandriva 2010.2 does.
