LibreOffice

Using LibreOffice 3.4.4 Mageia all uptodate with autoupdates.

Screenshot attached.

I create tables (1 row, 1 column) in one file open in the right window and select the individual 1 row 1 column table and then drag it with the mouse into the left window. I use this to put comments into student work.

I have done this for years successfully, first with Open Office, and then with Libre Office. Usually these are DOCX files. Now I use Libre Office so that I can save the DOCX files instead of saving them as DOC with Open Office.

Today, however, when I drag some of the tables to the second file, Libre Office instantly shuts down and then I have to recover. I am doing nothing different than I ever have. This is happening repeatedly but not always. I cannot determine exactly why it happens sometimes and not other times, or what I can do to stop it.

What has changed in LibreOffice?

Welcome to the forum, wpeace :)

However, I believe the best place for *this* question is LibreOffice forums.

Just to check, did this behaviour start just after the update to LibreOffice 3.4.4, or is it only a recent thing. If the former, this is most likely a bug in the latest version of LibreOffice, and morgano is right, you will probably do best to ask this in a LibreOffice forum, to see if other people can reproduce the problem. If the latter, I would first suspect either a problem in another Mageia package that LibreOffice depends on and that has been recently updated, or that you have a hardware fault on your PC.
