[SOLVED] Update problem

Postby pchristy » Jan 22nd, '12, 11:05

My Mageia install recently notified me that updates were available. However, when I went to update, one failed:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sorry, the following package cannot be selected:

- mplayer-1.0-1.rc4.0.r32713.5.2.mga1.tainted.x86_64 (due to unsatisfied libcaca.so.0()(64bit))
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Strangely, mencoder (part of the same suite) upgraded fine! There appears to be no 64-bit version of libcaca available!

Suggestions?

Cheers,

A fresh install of it on my system does not appear to need that dependency. You might try to uninstall it and install it fresh again.

Yes, that fixed it! Looking at the error message again, the update was looking for the 32-bit library (libcaca) instead of the 64 bit one (lib64caca)! Re-installing mplayer sorted that!

Many thanks for a prompt reply!
