Oh good CTRL+SHIFT+U works now! How do I turn it off?

Yesterday I got updates for all the stuff in the code box below (as I'm sure many of us did). I love Mageia (since switching from Mandriva), I'm thrilled to have the latest version of LibreOffice, and now, suddenly, for the first time ever (in my experience) CTRL+SHIFT+U works inside Writer for inputting unicode characters. That's great! I'm sure lots of folks have been waiting years for this fix, but its activation breaks one of my ages old OO/LibO key bindings.
I've been a KDE user for over a decade (happily living without the GTK unicode key combo trick) and have long preferred the Compose key over memorizing innumerable hex strings, so I don't really need it. What in the list below prompted the change (X11? Graphite2? LibO itself?), and most crucial to me, can I disable the functionality again? If so, how?
