why firefox cant use vlc-plugin to read divx streaming

i installed mozilla-plugin-vlc which it will give the browsers the ability to read MP3 / DivX / MP2 streaming

but ..... that doesnt happend at this link http://stagevu.com/video/skyloqjhpteo

so why

Seems the vlc plugin isn't recognised by firefox for some time, you should check if it is listed at about:plugins
Just try the totem-mozilla plugin, that should work, although with another media player (totem).

yah .... i know

and really wierd .. when i installed it .. there is no any multimedia file can be readable from firefox AND konqueror except those which can you read them by flash player

but when i installed gecko-mediaplayer ..... it give the browsers the ability to read the whole multimedia formats by useing mplayer's libraries

Actually none of both. Seems mozilla-plugin-vlc is just not updated frequently enough regarding Firefox new release cycle.

Same here, mozilla vlc plugin is not recognized by FF 10. So maybe it would be better to remove it from the repositories as it is not functional anyway?

Well, we can't remove something from a released distribution. Also f.ex. in Mageia 1 you have an older Firefox version available which i think is still working with this plugin, so this would be another reason against this proposal.
