efax pre-lock file [SOLVED[

I am using the version of efax (and efax-gtk) that is supplied with Mageia 9. This has always worked without problems.

Now however, every time I try to send a fax, I get an error that says "can't open pre-lock file /var/lock/TMP..*"

I can't see any lock files in /var/lock. What causes this and how can I fix it? As I said, this has always worked fine before. No hardware changes.

Could this be a permission problem?

I changed the lock file location to my home directory (/home/lloyd) That fixed the problem.

Did this work in default install and then stopped working?

Seems like a bug report should be made.
