[SOLVED] KDE main menu position

In Mageia Cauldron, the application launcher menu appears sometimes at the bottom of the screen, sometimes at the top. It seems to change with each update. Is there a setting to lock this?

Strange behavior indeed.
The only thing i can think of is the option "Lock Widgets", by right-clicking in the desktop.

Thanks, but I can't move it to lock it in place. Widgets were locked when it was at the bottom. In addition, when the menu is at the top and I open the panel for editing ("unlock widgets" then "panel settings",) the panel "window" appears at the top of the screen, instead of just above the panel. For a while, I thought it was an extra panel, Gnome-style, but it is the dialog for the panel at the bottom.

Just a shot in the dark:
did you try removing the panel, and following create a new one.

The standard KDE fix -- renaming my .kde4 directory and allowing a new one to be created -- seems to have put the menu back where it belongs.
