Hello everyone.

I have the following issue with my newly installed Mageia 9 (I'm using KDE Plasma with X11).

Every time I choose the "shutdown" or "restart" option from the menu, KDE freezes.

The only way I have to reset the system is by pressing Ctrl-F2, and then login and then typing sudo reboot or sudo poweroff.

I've already checked the error log (with journalctl) but there are no errors from KDE or X11.

Could you please help me?

It might help if you could get like the last 1000-2000 lines of journal logs after trying shutdown or restart.

and then later attach /tmp/journal.log here.
Also you mentioned that KDE freezes, how do you determine that and how long do you wait for something to happen ?

Apparently, the gods of Mageia don't seem to favor me.

You should probably start by setting a proper hostname using hostnamectl set-hostname, and change your network connections to NOT obtain a hostname via DHCP.
And best also fix your network connections, that doesn't look that good. Then remove teamviewer, reboot and try again.

In this particular case I need to have a static ip address.

I also need to have teamviewer because I plan to access this pc remotely. ¿is there a solution
similar in funtionality to teamviewer but for mageia?

It doesn't matter if you have a static IP adress or not but the hostname should not change, otherwise your X session might break.

Of what use is teamviewer to you if your box doesn't work properly in the first place? First make sure your box works normally, then add 3rd party tools.

Related to the hostname, something strange happened to me:
when I installed the system, I did it with DHCP, and immediately after finishing the installation,
I changed the hostname using hostnamectl.
Somedays later (when I had already finished installing my system,
and even had installed TeamViewer and tested it), I changed the monitor
and then set a static address using MCC.
HOWEVER, after restarting the system, I realized that the hostname
had been changed to localhost, and from that moment on,
I am having this problem.

gigaserver should not be in that place in /etc/hosts, please remove that.

Also, how do you configure your network connections, using Mageia tools or using networkmanager ?

I first attempted to change the ip using NetworkManager, but my modifications were never saved (at least I tried it 3 times), and I ended up doing it through MCC -> Network & Internet -> Network Center -> Click on the interface enp7s0 -> Click on the configure button.

I just realized that from the black screen that I had mentioned earlier, I can open applications in this way:
by pressing Alt-Tab and Mageia responds with a bar of open windows, one of which is the 'Konsole' application. Once on the command line,
I can execute: firefox, virtualbox, konqueror, etc:

I think this problem is a plasma bug.

When I choose "ICEWM" in the login screen It shows the dektop with the taskbar and the main menu.

IceWM is a separate desktop and has nothing to do with KDE / plasma.

But you could easily find out if you're affected by that bug, as root:
