I have most current version of NextCloud client available in Mageia 9 repos.

Code: Select all
[maciek@Piotr ~]$ nextcloud -v
MESA: error: ZINK: failed to choose pdev
glx: failed to create drisw screen
failed to load driver: zink
nextcloud.gui.application: Migrating old config from "/home/maciek/.local/share/Nextcloud" to "/home/maciek/.config/Nextcloud"
nextcloud.gui.application: Failed to move the old config directory to its new location ( "/home/maciek/.local/share/Nextcloud" to "/home/maciek/.config/Nextcloud" )
nextcloud.gui.application: Will move the individual files ("Dokumenty_sync.log", "FB+WhatsApp_sync.log", "Fotografie z aparatu_sync.log", "TMP_sync.log")
nextcloud.gui.application: Fallback move of  "Dokumenty_sync.log" also failed
nextcloud.gui.application: Fallback move of  "FB+WhatsApp_sync.log" also failed
nextcloud.gui.application: Fallback move of  "Fotografie z aparatu_sync.log" also failed
nextcloud.gui.application: Fallback move of  "TMP_sync.log" also failed
Nextcloud version 3.11.1git
Git revision c65a8fd6a9d1d436a3ad8a6486117659f0007af2
Using Qt 5.15.7, built against Qt 5.15.7
Using Qt platform plugin 'xcb'
Using 'OpenSSL 3.0.12 24 Oct 2023'
Running on Mageia 9, x86_64

I don’t know why, but very often two instances of the NextCloud client start on their own.
I have declared the start of this client in my KDE desktop environment (Plasma) via the GUI "System settings" of KDE.
However, after two Nextcloud icons appear in the tasks area, after entering the option to set the application autostart (together with the initiation of the KDE session), there are two instances to run.
I delete one, but after rebooting the computer, two instances of the NC client appear again from time to time.
This prevents the files from synchronizing properly, of course.
What could be the error and what logs should I send for analysis?

Doesn‘t Nextcloud client have an own setting for autostart? Doublecheck the client setting GUI. It looks like, that your self created autostart entry overlaps with the one from Nextcloud itself…

A second thing to check is, if you are starting your machine with a new session or the prior one. Check systemsettings…

Funny, i just checked: i have two entries for Nextcloud in that list in systemsettings autostart dialogue, but always only one client appear.
I never made an entry here manually.
Removed one of them now...

When you right click the Nextcloud system tray icon, select settings, then the cog wheel top right, there is a check box top left for starting at system start.

Yes, it does. But strangely enough, after some time, two entries about the start of NextCloud appear there.
I removed both and disabled NextCloud autostart in the client configuration. And - very strangely - a single entry appeared on its own.

I did not make any modifications to the system in this respect.
It seems to me that the problem appeared after one of the last system updates.

I have it set so that the system always starts from a new session.

I know about it. I disabled NextCloud autostart in the client configuration. And - very strangely - a single entry appeared on its own.

What's more interesting, normally the NextCloud client should not start if one instance of the client is already running.
As below:

Code: Select all
[maciek@Piotr ~]$ nextcloud
MESA: error: ZINK: failed to choose pdev
glx: failed to create drisw screen
failed to load driver: zink
nextcloud.gui.application: Migrating old config from "/home/maciek/.local/share/Nextcloud" to "/home/maciek/.config/Nextcloud"
nextcloud.gui.application: Failed to move the old config directory to its new location ( "/home/maciek/.local/share/Nextcloud" to "/home/maciek/.config/Nextcloud" )
nextcloud.gui.application: Will move the individual files ("Dokumenty_sync.log", "FB+WhatsApp_sync.log", "Fotografie z aparatu_sync.log", "TMP_sync.log")
nextcloud.gui.application: Fallback move of  "Dokumenty_sync.log" also failed
nextcloud.gui.application: Fallback move of  "FB+WhatsApp_sync.log" also failed
nextcloud.gui.application: Fallback move of  "Fotografie z aparatu_sync.log" also failed
nextcloud.gui.application: Fallback move of  "TMP_sync.log" also failed
nextcloud.gui.application: Already running, exiting...

Yes, I've noticed this myself in the last week or so: And it's become grumpy at syncing, I've had to 're-add' a couple of directories. I also have my own nextcloud server, manually installed: And I've got a warning, but when I google about it, it appears it's a bug, and should get fixed next release: So maybe there's issues upstream???

There was a server update for me today, so I did it. Run into a memory issue (again, one day I'll understand php properly) got over that, and strange warning I had that was possibly a bug, is now gone :)

You use the android app? Mines getting really, really laggy at auto-upload of pictures: Driving me crazy.
